Why Get a Water Filtration System For Your Home?

Benefits of a Whole House Water filtration System

Introduction – What is a whole house water filtration system?

A water filtration system filters all the water in your household, including water in bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchen. It is, therefore, the most, convenient and beneficial because once installed in the main water supply, it ensures consistent water quality in all the rooms in your house.

  1. Heavy Duty water filtration systems: this is the highest performing impurity removing system employing a large amount of filter media. You only put the media in your water tank, and it will provide you with specific contaminant protection for as long as ten years before necessitating the replacements.
  2. Standard Capacity Water Filtration Cartridge: the cartridges are put in durable filter enclosures enabling the system to filter contaminated water entire home water treatment The filters are usually smaller compared to heavy duty systems. This type of water filtration systems, therefore, needs replacement every year.

Specific benefits of various Water Filter methods

  1. Reverse Osmosis: It reverses the water’s natural flow and instead channels the water through a specially designed semipermeable membrane. This filtration method conserves water.
  2. Carbon Filter: This method contains activated carbon which works by trapping impurities in the pores of positively charged and hence highly absorbent filters. It is most effective in removing chemical tastes and odors
  3. Distillation: Distillers boil water to boiling point before collecting the steam as the water condenses leaving behind contaminants. Since some contaminants can turn to gas form, to avoid such contaminants remaining in water even after filtration, most filtration systems combine this method with other methods such as carbon filtration method.

Benefits of a whole house water filters

1. Cleaner safer water throughout your home

With a whole house water filtration system, you are sure of clean and safe water emerging from each and every water source in your home. You will, therefore, have filtered water for laundry, cleaning, showering and cooking. Having filtered water in every room is particularly beneficial for the elderly and children, as well as any other person with a deficient immune system.

2. Eliminate chances of contaminants entering our bodies

Many people think it is only important to filter drinking water and hence only filter water emerging from the kitchen sink. However, water enters our bodies through several other ways. When we wash our hair, bathe and brush teeth, pores in our skin absorb contaminants in the water. For this reason, investing in a whole-house water filtration system is the only sure way of eliminating chances of toxins entering our bodies.

3. Ease of installation and maintenance

Installing and maintaining a whole house water filtration system is very easy thanks to the fact that you always water from the source. You, therefore do not have to install water filters in every room in your home. You not only install, but also maintain one single water filter. Replacement filters are also readily available in the market.

4. Very effective

Whole house water filtration systems filter water at low temperatures. Hence, they lead to an effective removal of chlorine, pollutants, odors, harmful chemicals as well as particles as small as five microns. They also, reliably condition water in your entire home leaving behind no chemical smell or taste in your water.

5. Help Appliances last longer

Water filtration systems extend the life of water-using appliances such as water heaters and the plumbing systems. Eliminating minerals and lime from water reduces breakdown rates of such appliances reduced. You will, therefore, not have to maintain and service your water-using appliances often.

Buying Tips

  • Find out the most common contaminant(s) in your water. Choose the filtration systems that best remove the contaminant. It is advisable to buy a system that combines several filtration methods.
  • Buy an NSF certified filtration system. Such systems bear NFS seal and indicate that the system has been independently tested and found to remove all the contaminants its manufacturer claims it removes.
  • Pay attention to ease of maintenance of a system. Buy a system that will not always require a professional to maintain so as to cut down on maintenance cost

Whole house water filtration systems remove contaminants from your water enhancing the pH balance, texture, and safety of water emerging from every water source. The fact they are also easy to install and maintain means they are suitable for everyone. They also make water-using appliances last considerably longer. 16 Facts You Didn’t Know About Water !

16 Facts You Didn’t Know About Water !

Water is something that is absolutely essential for life, without it, life as we know would not exist! From drinking water in space, to its benefits on the brain. I’m Lorenzo with insane curiosity, and Here are 16 things you may not know about water!

1. Drinking in space!

Nature’s been recycling water on Earth for eons, and now NASA is set to do the same thing above Earth on the International Space Station. They have created a ‘Water Recovery System’.

What this system does is recycle 93% of the waste liquid on the space station, and turns it into clean drinking water.

…You’re wondering what ‘waste liquid’ is? Well it’s perspiration and… urine. It is filtered through two racks, fitted with a liquid distiller. It may sound disgusting, but this is incredibly revolutionary system. It enables the ISS to be self-sufficient, and ensure that it will never run out of clean water, that they can use to wash and drink.

2. Don’t water your plants during the day!

This may sound a bit strange at first glance, but good gardeners know it to be true! They often water plants out of the way of direct sunlight. Why would they do this?

Well the small droplets of water that cling to the leaves of the plant can actually act as little magnifying glasses. They can focus rays of sunlight and actually cause plants to dehydrate, and possibly burn!

So next time you find yourself in your garden on a beautiful sunny day, don’t water your plants! They’ll end up worse off.

3. Don’t drink too much!

A lot of people say the recommended daily amount of water is 6-9 pints! That can seem like a lot, and a sufficient amount of water is healthy. However, too much can be just as bad!

Drinking significantly more water than you need is known as ‘water intoxification’. This can be dangerous, and (believe it or not) can lead to what is known as an edema, which is ‘observable swelling from fluid accumulation in body tissues’. A lot of amateur marathon runners have actually met they’re end through this type of overexposure to water. Be careful, don’t drink too much water!

4. Water water everywhere!

Water is absolutely everywhere! There are over 300 million cubic miles of it on the earth’s surface. This is around 71% of the earth’s surface. Around 96.5% of the water on the earth is the water in the ocean.

What may surprise some is that less than one percent of earth’s water is drinkable. Even when you include bottled water. This just shows how much water is on earth.

5. Not so fresh!

Did you know that ‘fresh’ is actually a relative term? It’s scary but it’s true!

Before 2009 some federal regulators did not even require water bottlers to remove E. coli from their batches. This is a scary prospect, but thankfully federal regulations have since tightened up surrounding the safety of fresh water regulation.

6. Full of hot water!

We all know that water is of a major importance; some organisms are made up of 90% water.

When it comes to humans, up to 60% of the adult body is water. According to the Journal of Biological Chemistry, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. Even your bones are 31% water! It really is absolutely everywhere!

7. Hot water freezes faster than cold water

Unbelievable right, but it is proven that hot water actually freezes faster than cold water does!

The Mpemba effect was named after a Tanzanian student, one day in 1963, he realised that hot ice cream freezes faster than cold ice cream.  It was actually Aristotle that first observed this effect in the 4th century BC, then later Francis Bacon and René Descartes. Mpemba published a paper on his findings in 1969.

8. The power of Niagra Falls

Niagara Falls straddles the border between the USA and Canada, it is an extremely popular tourist attraction. Bringing in millions of visitors a year, that come to behold it’s beauty and vastness.

It is also extremely dangerous, there are quite a number of accidents, and strict security measures at the site. And there is a reason for this, 3,160 tons of water flows over Niagara Falls every second. The water falls at 32 feet per second over the Falls. This means that Niagara Falls has the power and flow …

Water Kingfishers II All 9 Recognized Species II Facts & HD Photos

Water Kingfishers II All 9 Recognized Species II Facts & HD Photos

The Water Kingfishers or Cerylinae are one of the three subfamilies of kingfishers, and are also known as the cerylid kingfishers. All six American species are in this family.
These are all specialist fish-eating species, unlike many representatives of the other two subfamilies. The original ancestor possibly evolved in Africa – at any rate in the Old World – and the Chloroceryle species are the youngest ones.
While the evolutionary history of the water kingfishers in regard to their internal relationships is well resolved, it is not entirely clear whether they evolved from river kingfishers or tree kingfishers, and whether they immigrated across the Atlantic or the Pacific Ocean (though the former seems more likely). There are 9 water kingfisher species in 3 genera.…
