As part of the celebrations for the 75th Anniversary of Rover Skiing, a group of about 10 Bogong and Alpine Rovers hiked the original route into the chalet from Shannonvale. The track had completely grown over so we had to rely on GPS coordinates and our own sense of direction, so our short trek turned into an 12 hour hike. We made it back to the chalet by 10pm, missing out on the dinner celebrations.
Start of the track, nice and easy
Still not too hard yet
Now its getting harder. The track has disappeared.
The lovely foilage that was covering our track
The fallen trees were a relief for those of us without gaiters after the prickly blackberry bushes on the ground
